¿Qué es Solana?

Solana is a monolithic high-throughput blockchain built for speed and low-cost transactions. Using its Proof of History clock alongside Proof of Stake, Solana processes thousands of transactions per second on a single chain. It is a major platform for DeFi trading, NFTs and consumer-facing Web3 apps.

¿Qué es Avalanche?

Avalanche is a Layer 1 platform launched in 2020 by Ava Labs, founded by Cornell professor Emin Gun Sirer. It uses the Avalanche consensus family and a multi-chain design with three built-in chains (X-Chain, C-Chain, P-Chain). Projects can launch their own application-specific blockchains, originally called subnets and now called Avalanche L1s.

Diferencias clave

Solana uses a monolithic single-chain architecture. Avalanche lets projects launch their own application-specific blockchains (Avalanche L1s, formerly subnets).

Avalanche's C-Chain is EVM-compatible, so Ethereum dApps can be ported with little change. Solana uses its own Sealevel runtime and requires Rust development.

Both confirm transactions in seconds or less: Solana in about a second, Avalanche in about 1 to 2 seconds. Both are far faster than Ethereum L1 finality.

Avalanche has a capped supply of 720 million AVAX and burns transaction fees. Solana has no hard supply cap and pays inflationary staking rewards.

Avalanche validators must stake at least 2,000 AVAX. Solana has no minimum stake, but its hardware requirements are high.

Solana's ecosystem is stronger in consumer-facing apps and token trading. Avalanche has found traction in enterprise, gaming and institutional deployments through dedicated L1s.

¿Cuál deberías elegir?

Solana and Avalanche are both fast Layer 1 blockchains with different scaling strategies. Solana offers high throughput and very low fees on a single chain, which suits high-frequency DeFi and consumer apps. Avalanche offers more architectural flexibility with its Avalanche L1 model and EVM compatibility, which suits enterprise deployments and projects moving from Ethereum. Your choice depends on whether you value single-chain performance or multi-chain customization.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Es Solana más rápida que Avalanche?
Both are fast. Solana produces a block about every 400 milliseconds and confirms most transactions in about a second; Avalanche reaches finality in about 1 to 2 seconds. Solana usually has lower fees on its single chain, while Avalanche can add capacity by running many L1s in parallel.
¿Qué son las subredes de Avalanche?
Subnets, renamed Avalanche L1s in 2024, are independent, customizable blockchains within the Avalanche ecosystem. Each one can define its own rules, validators and virtual machine. This lets enterprises and projects launch dedicated chains tailored to their needs while staying connected to the broader Avalanche network.
¿Puedo usar Solidity en Solana?
Not natively. Solana programs are written in Rust, C or C++. Avalanche's C-Chain supports Solidity directly because it is EVM-compatible, which makes it easier for Ethereum developers to migrate.
¿Cuál tiene más TVL DeFi, Solana o Avalanche?
Solana has had the higher DeFi TVL in recent years, driven by protocols such as Jupiter, Raydium and Marinade. Avalanche's DeFi ecosystem includes Trader Joe (now LFJ), Benqi and Aave, with a lower overall TVL. See DefiLlama for live figures.
¿Cuál es más descentralizado, Solana o Avalanche?
Both involve trade-offs. Avalanche requires a 2,000 AVAX minimum stake to validate its Primary Network. Solana has no minimum stake but demands expensive hardware, which limits who can run a validator. Both have a validator count in the low thousands or below; check each network's explorer for live numbers.
