For cautious investors, or anyone building a conservative decentralized finance (DeFi) portfolio, stablecoin yield combines on-chain lending rates with the price stability of the US dollar. Your principal stays constant in dollar terms while the interest builds up. The remaining risks are platform and stablecoin risks, covered in the risk section below.

Stablecoins are one of the largest asset classes on-chain. The live supply of each stablecoin is published on DefiLlama, and the amount of USDC in circulation is published by Circle (see Sources). Per Circle, USDC is backed by cash and short-dated US Treasury securities. This supply feeds deep lending markets, which is why there are many places to earn interest on stablecoins.

Sin volatilidad de precios

Your principal holds its dollar value. A $10,000 USDC deposit stays worth $10,000 whatever Bitcoin or Ether does, as long as the stablecoin keeps its peg.

Rendimientos denominados en dólares

The rate is quoted and paid in dollar terms. DeFi lending rates are variable and visible live on each protocol; a fixed-rate product such as Coinstancy Dollar Savings tells you the rate currently in force before you deposit.

Suited to Cautious Investors

A common question from newcomers is: "If stablecoins do not go up in price, where does the yield come from?" It is a fair question. Stablecoin yield comes from four identifiable sources, each of which can be checked on-chain or in the protocol documentation (see Sources).

1

Demanda de préstamos

The largest source of stablecoin yield is borrowing demand. Traders borrow stablecoins to leverage their positions: they deposit ETH as collateral, borrow USDC, buy more ETH, and repeat. When a larger share of a lending pool is borrowed, the protocol's interest rate model raises the borrow rate, which raises the APY paid to lenders. When demand drops, both fall.

Lending protocols such as Aave, Compound and Morpho run this market. The interest borrowers pay goes to lenders, minus a share kept by the protocol (Aave calls it the reserve factor, see Sources). The model is the same as bank lending, with the rate set by an on-chain formula instead of by the bank.

2

Tarifas para proveedores de liquidez

Decentralized exchanges need stablecoin liquidity for trading pairs. When you provide USDC to a stable pair pool (for example a USDC/USDT pool on Curve), you earn a share of every swap fee generated by that pool. Each pool charges a small fee per swap, set per pool and shown on its page (see the Curve documentation in Sources). The return depends on trading volume relative to the size of the pool.

Because both assets track the same dollar value, impermanent loss is small as long as both keep their peg. That makes stable pools one of the lower-risk yield farming strategies, although a depeg of one asset in the pool would leave you holding more of it.

3

Incentivos del Protocolo

Many DeFi protocols distribute their governance token to attract deposits. Compound pays COMP to suppliers in its markets and Curve distributes CRV to pools with a gauge (see Sources). These incentives raise the effective APY, but the extra part is paid in a token whose price moves, and it can be reduced or stopped by governance. Treat incentives as a bonus on top of the lending or fee yield, not as the base rate.

4

Respaldo de activos del mundo real

A growing share of on-chain stablecoin yield comes from real-world assets (RWAs), mainly short-dated US Treasury securities. The Sky protocol (formerly MakerDAO) funds its Dai Savings Rate and Sky Savings Rate from protocol revenue, which includes stability fees paid by borrowers and income from RWA collateral (see the Sky documentation in Sources). Tokenised Treasury funds bring the same off-chain yield to DeFi directly. As a result, part of stablecoin yield now follows traditional interest rates.

Stablecoin Yield Platforms Compared

We compare seven places to earn stablecoin yield, starting with our own platform, Coinstancy, then ordered by ease of use. Third-party rates change often, so we describe how each platform sets its rate and point you to the live figure rather than quoting a number that will be stale next month. DeFi rates are published on each protocol's app and aggregated on DefiLlama (see Sources).

#1 RECOMENDADO
Coinstancy

Coinstancy

Deposit USDC and your balance grows as interest accrues. There is nothing to manage, no positions to monitor and no gas fees to pay for claiming rewards.

Aa

Aave V3

Variable rate, set by utilisation USDC, USDT, DAI

Aave is one of the largest decentralized lending protocols by total value locked (TVL); the live figure is on DefiLlama. The USDC supply rate on Aave V3 is set by an interest rate model based on how much of the pool is borrowed, so it moves every block; the current rate per network is on the Aave app (see Sources). Self-custodial, no lock-up, deployed on Ethereum and several Layer 2 networks. The trade-offs are a variable rate and gas costs for deposits and withdrawals on Ethereum mainnet.

Mo

Morpho

Morpho is built on isolated lending markets, each with one collateral asset, one loan asset and fixed risk parameters. Curated vaults run by third-party risk managers (for example Steakhouse Financial, Gauntlet or RE7) spread deposits across those markets. A vault's rate depends on the markets its curator selects and how heavily they are borrowed, so it differs from one vault to the next; the live rates are on the Morpho app (see Sources). More complex than Coinstancy, but self-custodial with a choice of risk profile.

Co

Compound V3

Variable rate, plus COMP rewards USDC

Compound V3 (Comet) uses a single base asset per market, most often USDC. Supply USDC and earn the market's variable rate plus COMP token rewards, which have to be claimed. The live rate per market is on the Compound app (see Sources). Compound has run on Ethereum since 2018 and is one of the longest-operating lending protocols; V3 is also deployed on several Layer 2 networks, listed in the documentation.

Cv

Curve Finance

Swap fees plus CRV, varies per pool USDC, USDT, DAI, crvUSD

Curve is a decentralized exchange (DEX) specialised in stablecoin swaps. Providing liquidity to a stable pool (for example 3pool or a crvUSD pool) earns a share of swap fees plus CRV emissions on pools with a gauge. Locking CRV as veCRV boosts those emissions, up to 2.5 times per the Curve documentation (see Sources). The pool's rate depends on its trading volume and current emissions, shown on each pool page. This requires understanding the gauge system and suits experienced DeFi users comfortable with LP positions.

Bf

Beefy Finance

Variable, differs per vault and chain Multi-chain

Beefy is a yield aggregator that auto-compounds rewards on many chains. Deposit into a stablecoin vault (a Curve LP position, an Aave pool or another lending market) and Beefy claims the rewards, sells them and re-deposits, keeping a performance fee. The APY varies widely by vault and chain and is shown on each vault page. It suits multi-chain yield farmers who want auto-compounding but still have to pick the vault themselves.

Mk

Sky (formerly Maker): DSR and SSR

Set by governance, see Sky app DAI / USDS

The Dai Savings Rate (DSR) pays yield on DAI, and the Sky Savings Rate (SSR) pays yield on USDS, the newer stablecoin of the same protocol. Both are funded by protocol revenue: stability fees paid by borrowers and income from collateral, including real-world assets (see the Sky documentation in Sources). The rate is set by governance vote, not by market demand, so it can change at any vote; the current figure is on the Sky app. Single-asset deposit, no impermanent loss, no lock-up. You need to hold DAI or USDS rather than USDC.

Estrategias de rendimiento de stablecoin

There are several ways to earn yield on stablecoins, from a single deposit to multi-protocol strategies. Pick the approach that matches your risk tolerance, the time you can spend and your DeFi experience. Expected rates are not quoted below because they move with the market; check the live figures at the sources. Our guide on how APY works in crypto helps compare them.

PRINCIPIANTE

Préstamo Simple

Deposit USDC into a lending protocol (Aave, Compound) or a yield platform (Coinstancy) and earn interest paid by borrowers. This is the lowest-effort strategy. The main risks are smart contract risk and, for a platform, counterparty risk.

Tasa: variable en DeFi, tasa fija vigente en Coinstancy · Riesgo: Bajo · Esfuerzo: Mínimo
INTERMEDIO

LP de Par Estable

Provide liquidity to stablecoin-only pools on Curve, Balancer or Uniswap V3 (tight range). Because both assets track the dollar, impermanent loss is small while both hold their peg. You earn swap fees plus any protocol incentives (CRV or BAL emissions).

Rate: swap fees plus incentives, per pool · Risk: Low to medium · Effort: Moderate
AVANZADO

Préstamo Recursivo (Ciclo)

Deposit USDC as collateral on a lending protocol, borrow USDC against it, re-deposit the borrowed amount, and repeat. This multiplies your supply position. On a single pool the borrow rate is always above the supply rate, so looping only pays when token incentives or a separate rate difference outweigh that gap. It requires close monitoring of your health factor and liquidation threshold.

Rate: depends on the rate gap and incentives · Risk: Medium to high · Effort: High
AUTOMATIZADO

Agregación de Rendimiento

Use a platform such as Beefy or Yearn that compounds rewards automatically and moves capital between protocols. Deposit once and the vault strategy does the rest, for a performance fee. Coinstancy Dollar Savings offers a simpler experience with a fixed 7.50% APY on USDC, the rate currently in force, which may be revised as market conditions evolve.

Rate: variable per vault, fixed rate in force on Coinstancy · Risk: Low to medium · Effort: Minimal

Evaluación de Riesgo

Stablecoin yield is not risk-free. Here are the main risks and how to assess them.

Riesgo de contrato inteligente

Every DeFi protocol runs on smart contracts that can contain bugs. Audited contracts have been exploited before. Reduce the risk by using established protocols with a long track record, several published audits and a bug bounty programme, and do not put all your capital in one protocol.

Riesgo de Depeg

A stablecoin can trade away from $1 during a liquidity crisis, an issuer problem or a market panic. In March 2023 USDC traded below $0.90 on some exchanges after Circle disclosed reserves at the failed Silicon Valley Bank, and returned to $1 within days. Prefer stablecoins with published, regularly attested reserves (see the Circle transparency page in Sources).

Riesgo Regulatorio

Governance attacks, oracle manipulation and poor risk parameters can lead to losses. Assess a protocol by its TVL history (on DefiLlama), team transparency, governance structure and how it handled past incidents. Several years of operation without loss of user funds is a good sign, not a guarantee.

Cómo Evaluar una Plataforma

  • Audit history: check for several independent security audits from known firms (for example Trail of Bits, OpenZeppelin or Spearbit), published in the protocol documentation.
  • TVL and track record: higher TVL and a longer operating history mean the code has been tested under real conditions. Be careful with new protocols offering unusually high rates.
  • Yield source transparency: understand where the yield comes from. If a platform cannot explain its yield source clearly, avoid it.
  • Withdrawal terms: prefer platforms with no lock-up and clear settlement times. A lock-up means you cannot react if conditions change.
  • Rate sustainability: compare a platform's rate with the live lending rates on DefiLlama. A rate far above them needs an explanation, and the explanation should be checkable.

Rendimiento de stablecoins vs ahorros bancarios

How does stablecoin yield on Coinstancy compare with a bank savings account? Here is a $10,000 comparison over three time horizons. The bank column uses the US national average savings rate of 0.37% APY published by the FDIC as of September 2026 (see Sources). The Coinstancy column uses the current 7.50% fixed APY of Dollar Savings, with interest accruing every second and automatically reinvested, and assumes the current fixed rate stays unchanged for the whole period, which is not guaranteed. Illustrative only.

  • Compounding: over 5 years, automatic reinvestment at 7.50% would turn $10,000 into $14,356 if the current rate stayed unchanged. The longer the horizon, the larger the share of the gain that comes from interest on interest.

There is no risk-free option, but the lowest-risk approach is to lend through established protocols that publish their audits and have several years of operating history. Coinstancy Dollar Savings offers a fixed 7.50% APY on USDC: Interest accrues every second and is automatically reinvested. There is no lock-up and you can request a withdrawal at any time. For self-custody, Aave and Compound have operated for several years and publish their audits in their documentation (see Sources). Spreading deposits across several protocols reduces single-point-of-failure risk.
Stablecoin yield comes from identifiable sources: borrowers pay interest on lending protocols, liquidity providers earn swap fees, and some protocols add token incentives on top. Lending rates rise when a larger share of a pool is borrowed and fall when demand drops, so on-chain rates move over time; the live figures are on each protocol's app and on DefiLlama (see Sources). Coinstancy Dollar Savings currently offers a fixed 7.50% APY on USDC. Interest accrues every second and is automatically reinvested. This is the fixed rate currently in force and it may be revised as market conditions evolve.
Yes, temporarily. Every stablecoin can trade away from $1 for a while. The best-known case was in March 2023, when Circle disclosed that part of the USDC reserves was held at Silicon Valley Bank, which had just failed. USDC traded below $0.90 on some exchanges over the weekend and returned to $1 within days once US regulators guaranteed the bank's deposits. Per Circle, USDC is backed by cash and short-dated US Treasury securities, with monthly reserve reports (see Sources). During a depeg your yield keeps accruing in the stablecoin, but its dollar value follows the market price. Prefer stablecoins with published, regularly attested reserves.
APR (annual percentage rate) is the simple interest rate without compounding. APY (annual percentage yield) includes the effect of compound interest. For example, a 7% APR with daily compounding works out to about 7.25% APY. Coinstancy quotes a 7.50% APY for Dollar Savings: Interest accrues every second and is automatically reinvested. The interest you earn itself earns interest. Always compare platforms on the same metric; APY is the closer picture of what you actually receive.
¿Cuánto puedo ganar con $10,000 en stablecoins?
For illustration, at the current 7.50% fixed APY of Coinstancy Dollar Savings and assuming the current fixed rate stays unchanged, which is not guaranteed, $10,000 in USDC would earn about $750 in the first year, $1,556 over two years and $4,356 over five years with automatic reinvestment. A bank savings account at the FDIC national average of 0.37% APY would earn about $37 in the first year and $186 over five years (see Sources). That is roughly 20 times more in the first year on the same deposit.
